WDRA Releases First Look At New Award

When the WDRA was being created, one of the very first things we discussed was our trophy. One of the things that bothered us about our past sanctioning body experience is that the most important thing we were awarding to racers who worked their tails off to win is produced in China.

When the WDRA was born, we vowed that the award we were going to present would have to meet 3 criteria. First, it had to be designed by racers. Second, it had to be produced by racers. Third, it had to be crafted and assembled by hands and with materials 100% sourced in the USA.

After 6 months of design and production edits we have met those criteria and arrived at what we want to award WDRA champions. Our award is custom designed and CNC machined from a block of billet. It is 21″ tall and weighs in at a little over 11 lbs. Even the assembly hardware is USA made stainless steel. The plating is laser engraved by WDRA member track owner Greg Miller from Keystone Raceway. We are serious about only car guys having a hand in creating this award before it goes to it’s forever home.

RENEGADE RACE FUEL JOINS THE ALLIANCE   

Springfield, IL – The World Drag Racing Alliance announced today that Renegade Race Fuels has joined the rapidly growing list of sponsors that will be supporting the bracket racing community by joining the WDRA in 2023.  Renegade will become an Official Partner of WDRA and offer various discounts and programs exclusively for WDRA Member tracks and racers.  Renegade has become the title sponsor of the Free Friday 5k race at the Summit World Championships presented by Suncoast Performance for Sportsman class competitors.  Beyond the free $5k race, Renegade will also provide access to the Renegade Rewards program for WDRA members.  WDRA member tracks also benefit by having an exclusive and industry first traction compound offer to earn free product.

In addition to the Summit World Championships, Renegade will have a presence at all WDRA Summit Bracket Finals presented by Laris Motorsports events and will be providing $250 in fuel prizes to the Summit World Champions. 

WDRA Chassis Certification Dates Announced

The WDRA Chassis Certification program has been created and the first set of WDRA Chassis Inspectors have been confirmed and are listed on the website with their contact information here https://www.racewdra.com/chassis-certification/

The first set of WDRA Chassis Certification dates have been scheduled for Maryland International Raceway, US 13 Dragway and Beaver Springs Dragway. Call to schedule your time.

DISCOUNT PROGRAM SECURED FOR WDRA MEMBER TRACK FACILITY SUPPLIES

WDRA has put together a 50% off discount program, specifically for WDRA member tracks, aimed at reducing the costs of facility and track related supplies while streamlining the process of ordering what is needed.

WDRA has teamed up with 1^st AYD, an Illinois based bulk supplier of products for the industrial, municipal and commercial markets.  1^st AYD was selected based on their product line matching up with many of the items drag racing facilities use.  1^st AYD carries full lines of chemicals, cleaning supplies, trash can liners, concession and restroom paper and plastic goods, drum pumps, oil absorption mats, shop maintenance items, brooms, mops, mop heads, laquer thinner, solvents and much more.

WDRA SUMMIT SPRING BRACKET FINALS AT DARLINGTON DRAGWAY CANCELLED

An unfavorable forecast along with cold temperatures for this week have forced the cancellation of the WDRA Summit Spring Bracket Finals presented by Laris Motorsports at Darlington Dragway.

“With the required travel component of a Summit Bracket Finals event we needed to make this decision today instead of waiting until closer to move-in day,” said WDRA’s Josh Peake.  “Friday is looking like a lost day due to rain and that has been consistent in the forecast since last week.  Saturday, because of colder temperatures, we will have a limited amount of time on the track and the amount of racing we need to do will be cut short.  All of the tracks we spoke with have concerns about having their racers put their time and money into traveling and be forced into giving them less of an event.  Jeff Miles and the Darlington crew were ready to give it 100% to make this happen.  We are grateful to Jeff for the opportunity to make up a hurricane effected event from 2022.”     

Summit Sportsman Drag Racing Series presented by Suncoast program flyer released

Program details for the season ending $250,000 WDRA Summit Sportsman Drag Racing Series presented by Suncoast have been released.

The race for the WDRA Summit World Championship presented by Suncoast will be held at the legendary Darlington Dragway October 19-21, 2023. In addition to the free main event entry, quailfied racers will also get $500 in tow money and free entry into the $5k winner take all gamblers races on Friday night. American Race Cars and Laris Motorsports Insurtance have already stepped up to sponsor the Box and No Box Free Friday 5k events.

The WDRA Summit World Champions will take home $20,000 in Box and No Box while Sportsman and Junior champions will each earn $10,000.

In addition to winning the track championship at WDRA member tracks, registered racers can also qualify for the Summit World Championship event by winning a Summit Bracket Finals presented by Laris Motorsports event. The first of the six event Summit Bracket Finals presented by Laris Motorsports series kicks off at Darlington Dragway February 16-19.

Laris Motorsports Creates Two WDRA Racer Bonus Programs For 2023

Laris Motorsports Insurance, who recently joined the alliance by supporting the WDRA Summit Bracket Finals and Summit World Championship programs, will deepen that commitment by offering WDRA members that are Laris Motorsports customers the opportunity to cash in on a perfect run.

The Laris Motorsports Insurance Perfect Run program will be contested at all Summit Bracket Finals events and the Summit World Championships presented by Suncoast Performance.  The program will start next month at the WDRA Summit Spring Southeast Bracket Finals presented by Laris Motorsports at Darlington Dragway.  The first Laris Motorsports customer that has the Laris decal on their car before 1^st round of eliminations and puts down a perfect run will win a $1,000 cash bonus.  If there is no winner at the event, the bonus will roll over to the next Summit Bracket Finals event and will continue to roll over throughout the Summit Bracket Finals Series of events.  If no one claims the prize during the Summit Bracket Finals series of events there will be a $6,000 Laris Motorsports bonus on the line at the Summit World Championships in October.

WDRA Launches Drag Racing’s Only All-Digital Licensing System With Trackside Systems

Springfield, IL – The WDRA is proud to announce a first of its kind, secure, online licensing system powered by Trackside Systems.  Trackside, the Official Technology Partner of the WDRA, built this sanction-level capability to drive efficiency and provide an easy, streamlined racer experience.  Launched as a soft open on January 1^st, 2023, this is the only system of its kind in the industry and is the manifestation of WDRA and Trackside’s mutual goals.

“In addition to making licensing simpler and faster for racers, this system is part of a long-term plan to continue to help our member tracks become more efficient at managing their businesses.  The licensing and membership capabilities of Trackside will provide automation and streamlined digital tools for member tracks to validate licenses and easily interface with the WDRA at a sanction level.  This means better-run events, streamlined processes, and lower costs of operating,” said WDRA’s Don Scott.

Winlight Bets Brings The Fun To Summit Spring Bracket Finals

As WDRA’s official Fan Engagement partner, Winlight Bets will be kicking off their partnership at the upcoming WDRA Summit Spring Bracket Finals presented by Laris Motorsports at Darlington Dragway. 

Winlight Bets will debut drag racing’s first outdoor casino February 17-18.  The outdoor casino will feature the Winlight Bets game play app, big screen TV’s, Drag Racing themed table games, Drag Racing themed slots along with a practice tree.  No casino would be complete without showgirls and the Winlight Bets showgirls will be on hand to assist players during the weekend.
