An unfavorable forecast along with cold temperatures for this week have forced the cancellation of the WDRA Summit Spring Bracket Finals presented by Laris Motorsports at Darlington Dragway.
“With the required travel component of a Summit Bracket Finals event we needed to make this decision today instead of waiting until closer to move-in day,” said WDRA’s Josh Peake. “Friday is looking like a lost day due to rain and that has been consistent in the forecast since last week. Saturday, because of colder temperatures, we will have a limited amount of time on the track and the amount of racing we need to do will be cut short. All of the tracks we spoke with have concerns about having their racers put their time and money into traveling and be forced into giving them less of an event. Jeff Miles and the Darlington crew were ready to give it 100% to make this happen. We are grateful to Jeff for the opportunity to make up a hurricane effected event from 2022.”
Darlington Dragway management will be watching the forecast this week and may potentially operate a one-day bracket race for anyone interested should the weather allow it. Updates will be posted on the Darlington Dragway Facebook page.
“After consulting with the member tracks on the status of this weekend and on the event moving forward, this event regretfully will not be able to be rescheduled. The few open dates we would have to work with will create conflicts with events already scheduled at some of the WDRA tracks that participate in this event. We are going to work on adding some bonuses to the fall Summit Bracket Finals for our tracks and racers in this region so when we do finally get to welcome our teams to Darlington it is the event that exceeds expectations” said Peake.
Updates to the Fall WDRA Summit Bracket Finals presented by Laris Motorsports at Darlington Dragway will be posted on the schedule section of the WDRA website at racewdra.com.
